## Overview

The National Ballet of China presents the world-renowned masterpiece, "Swan Lake." This production is not only synonymous with classical ballet but also serves as the ultimate test of a dancer's artistry and technical prowess. Featuring a distinct choreography and direction by the renowned Natalia Makarova, this production brings a powerful narrative and aesthetic beauty to the stage. Accompanied by the live music of the Central Ballet of China Symphony Orchestra, Tchaikovsky's sweeping score sets the tone for this century-spanning legend.

## Plot Summary

The story unfolds in three acts. It follows the melancholic Prince Siegfried, who encounters the Swan Princess Odette by the lake—a maiden cursed by an evil sorcerer to take the form of a swan by day. Only a vow of true love can break the spell. In the second act, at a grand ball, the sorcerer's daughter, Odile (the Black Swan), disguises herself as Odette, successfully tricking the Prince into betraying his vow. Realizing his mistake, the Prince rushes back to the lake to repent. Though Odette forgives him, the curse is irreversible. Ultimately, they choose to face death together to find eternal union, their spirits transcending mortality through the ultimate sacrifice of love.
